TravaLíngua, said in portuguese, is the term for tongue twister. But trava is also a colloquial word for travesti – transvestite, trans woman. Língua is language or tongue. TravaLíngua, língua das travas, tranny tongue, tranny language.

TravaLíngua is a performance voice research appropriating vocal practices especially related to feminization or masculinization of vocal change in trans people transitioning between genders and or sexual identities.

 

TravaLíngua is an initiative through research conducted at Master of Voice at the Sandberg Insitituut in Amsterdam and part of #iwannamakerevolution, project in residency at ArtsEverywhere.ca

Project #iwannamakerevolution is a performance research on transits, transition, placement, displacement, and mutations. Appropriating diverse conflicts while migrating from Brazil to Europe. Appropriating different body, political and social transformation while going through gender transition.
